What this does:
This program patches the PLAYER_A.DAT file every time you run this program.
The program will then proceed to launch the game.
What this does (more detailed):
GTA I seems to change the hex address "H4" byte from "06" to "00" at every game run causing the game to crash at next run.
This program changes back the byte in the file "PLAYER_A.DAT" to be "06". This program then proceeds to launch the game.
What is the BAT file? Can I delete it?:
The bat file bypasses the problems I and many other people have been having when running a command via the Shell command.
If you delete this file, you will have to launch GTA 1 manually or restore the file.
Where do I place these files?:
Into the GTA I directory.
If you've install GTA I via disc or via the installer on Rockstar's site, then place these in:
32bit: C:/Program Files/Rockstar Games/Grand Theft Auto/
64bit: C:/Program Files(x86)/Rockstar Games/Grand Theft Auto/
*If you have changed the install folder, then place it where you installed it to!
If you've installed GTA I via Steam:
32bit: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\grand theft auto
64bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\grand theft auto
After you have placed both files in the folder, you can then make a short cut to GTA I Launcher.exe by right clicking,
then selecting "Create Shortcut". Then just drag the shortcut to the desktop.
